Kingfisher Fuuko

In September 2007, a female kingfisher stood straight on a log bridge over a pond on the 16th hole of the West Course, supporting her body with her tail feathers. It was named "Kasumigaseki Fuuko" after the red panda "Futa" at the zoo in Chiba prefecture, where her standing was popular at that time.

Kingfisher courtship

At the time of shooting, there were one or two pairs, and it seems that they were breeding about every other year.

The photo shows a female who was delighted to receive a small fish as a gift in April 2013.

In June of the same year, a male presented a fish to a female at the same place, and with the consent, I was allowed to confirm the scene of mating. It is thought that a horizontal hole will be dug on the bank of the pond on the 14th or 16th hole in the east to raise children.
